1. About Counting Jack

Counting Jack ("the Service", "we", "us") is an educational and analytical tool designed to assist users in tracking card counts and estimating expected values for certain side bets in the game of Blackjack. The Service is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.

2. No Promotion of Gambling

Counting Jack is intended solely to help users who already play Blackjack understand the statistical composition of the remaining deck and potentially reduce — not eliminate — the inherent mathematical disadvantage of the game. Nothing on this platform should be interpreted as encouragement to gamble, increase wagers, or engage in any form of financial risk-taking.

3. Approximations Only — No Guarantees

Blackjack and its associated side bets involve inherent randomness. The models underlying this Service are designed to provide useful probabilistic guidance, but they are not infallible. You should not rely solely on this tool when making any decision at the table. No output from Counting Jack constitutes financial, legal, or gambling advice.

4. Casino Terms of Service

If you choose to use Counting Jack in conjunction with any online or physical casino, you are solely responsible for ensuring your compliance with that casino's terms of service, house rules, and applicable laws. Many casinos explicitly prohibit the use of assistance tools or card-counting strategies.

By using Counting Jack, you agree to abide by the terms of service of any casino platform you use it alongside. We accept no liability for any consequences — including account suspension, banning, forfeiture of winnings, or legal action — arising from your use of this Service in violation of a casino's policies.

5. No Liability for Wins or Losses

Counting Jack accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any financial gains or losses you incur while gambling. This includes, but is not limited to, losses resulting from acting on count information, expected value estimates, or side-bet recommendations displayed by this Service. Gambling carries inherent financial risk that you assume entirely on your own.

You acknowledge that your decision to gamble — and how you gamble — is entirely your own, and that Counting Jack is merely one of many informational inputs you may or may not consult.

6. Eligibility

By using this Service you represent that:

• You are at least 18 years of age (or the legal gambling age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher).
• Your use of the Service is lawful in your jurisdiction.
• You are not located in a jurisdiction where online gambling assistance tools are prohibited.

7. Accounts & Subscriptions

Certain features of Counting Jack require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed through Stripe and are subject to the billing terms presented at checkout. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact support@countingjack.com with any billing concerns.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized access to your account.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, models, code, and design elements of Counting Jack are the property of Counting Jack and may not be copied, reproduced, or redistributed without written permission.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Counting Jack disclaims all warranties including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In no event shall Counting Jack be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or gambling losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

11. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Your email address and username (required for authentication)
• Your first name (optional, used for personalization)
• Subscription and billing status (managed via Stripe)

We do not collect or store the individual card data you enter during a session. Card and deck state is stored locally in your browser's session storage and is cleared when you close the tab.

12. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account
• To manage your subscription and process payments
• To provide customer support
• To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

13. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Counting Jack:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Stripe — payment processing (we never store your card details)
• Vercel — website hosting and serverless functions

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on our behalf.

14. Cookies & Local Storage

Counting Jack uses browser session storage and local storage to save your session state (deck state, running count) and preferences (keyboard shortcuts, tour completion). No cross-site tracking cookies are used.

15. Data Retention & Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@countingjack.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
